The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented sales clerk to join our team at Good Grief Yarn & Provisions. The ideal candidate will have a love for knitting and crocheting, along with excellent retail experience and strong communication skills. This position will involve providing exceptional customer service, assisting with sales transactions, collaborating with owner on ways to improve business, assisting with social media content, maintaining the shop's cleanliness and organization, and offering knowledgeable advice on yarn and project-related matters. Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their yarn purchases and project needs.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop floor, including restocking inventory, cleaning displays, sweeping/vacuuming, and more.
- Offer knowledgeable advice on yarn selection and knitting/crocheting techniques.
- Assist with deciphering knitting/crochet patterns and providing guidance on project troubleshooting.
- Perform additional tasks as needed, such as organizing yarn storage, assisting with inventory management, or helping with administrative duties.
- Assist shop owner with creating content for social media.
Required Skills:
- Knitting and Crocheting: A deep knowledge of yarn, knitting, and crochet is essential, as it will allow you to provide knowledgeable advice to customers.
- Retail Experience: Previous experience in a retail setting is beneficial, but not mandatory.
- Excellent Customer Service: The ability to interact with customers in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner is crucial.
- Strong Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers, colleagues, and management.
- Organizational Skills: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain a clean and organized workspace is important.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is essential for ensuring accurate sales transactions, maintaining inventory, and providing high-quality customer service.
- Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items, stand for extended periods, walking up and down a lot of stairs, and reach and bend.
- Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and basic computer software is necessary.
- Social Media Skills: Candidate must be proficient in creating content for social media platforms.
Work Hours:
- Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, non-negotiable.
- Additional hours may be required, especially during peak season or special events.
Salary or Wage:
- Ontario minimum wage ($17.20/hour)
