Give your favorite knits a second life.

We believe that a well-loved sweater shouldn’t be retired just because of a snag, a moth hole, or a thinning heel. Our mending service is dedicated to the art of visible and invisible darning to ensure your cherished handmade or knit garments stay in your rotation for years to come.

How it Works

  1. Book a Free Consultation: Use this tool to schedule a 15-minute in-person assessment at our Dundas West shop.

  2. Assessment: During our chat, we will examine the garment together. I’ll provide a general estimate of the time required for the repair and discuss mending styles (matching the original knit vs. decorative "visible" mending).

  3. The Repair: Most repairs take between 30 to 90 minutes depending on the complexity and number of holes.

  4. Pickup & Payment: Once the work is complete, you’ll be billed based on the actual time spent at a rate of $25/hour.

What We Repair

We specialize specifically in knit and crochet items. We do not offer sewing repairs for woven clothing (e.g., jeans, dress shirts, zipper replacements on jackets).

Items we love to fix:

  • Sweaters & Cardigans (holes, snags, thinning elbows)

  • Hand-knit Socks (heels and toes)

  • Hats & Mitts

  • Scarves & Blankets

Can’t make it to the shop?

If you prefer a remote estimate, please send clear, high-resolution photos of the damage to info@goodgriefyarn.com. Include a photo of the whole garment and a close-up of the area needing repair (bonus points if you include a coin in the photo for scale!). We will get back to you with a rough estimate.

Please ensure all garments are freshly laundered before bringing them into the shop for assessment.
