A '90s-inspired fitted tee with lettuce hems!
The Baby Gem Tee features a folded crew neck, short sleeves, cropped length, fully fashioned European shoulder seams, and of course an adorable ruffle-y lettuce-edge trim!
Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit, a super soft fingering weight cotton is the yarn of choice for this summery tee! Its lightweight and loose ply make it perfect for humid summer weather, but will also transition perfectly into fall.
This tee is worked with seamless construction from the top down. First the back neck is worked flat and the shoulders are shaped with increases. Fronts are picked up from shoulders and worked to underarms, and the body is joined in round. Sleeves are picked up and knit from armhole edges and shaped with German short-rows.
The pattern has been fully test-knitted, tech edited, and is graded to fit actual chest sizes 71-76 (81-86, 92-97, 102-107, 112-117)(122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-158)cm /28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46) (48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62) inches.

Yarn Substitution: Choose a 100% cotton or summery fibre fingering weight yarn with a little bit of structure. Cotton or linen blended with other fibres (silk, bamboo, wool, etc) would work well. Wool sock yarn is an option as well, if you would like a warmer tee.

Needles
• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle 80-100cm / 32-40 inch long (longer needle for size 5+) for body, PLUS a 40cm / 16 inch circular needle for sleeves*
• 3mm (US 21⁄2) circular needle 80-100cm / 32-40 inch long (longer needle for size 5+) for hem, PLUS a circular needle 40cm / 16 inch long for collar and sleeve edgings*
• OPTIONAL: 2.5mm (US 11⁄2) or 2.75mm (US 2) needle any style for hem and sleeve edge bind off
*For sizes 1, 2 and 3, you may prefer to use double pointed needles or magic loop to work the sleeves, as the 40cm / 16 inch circular is a bit too long. I was able to work the sleeves for size 1 on a 40cm / 16 inch circular by carefully stretching the sts over the needle without any issues to the final sleeve, but it was a bit awkward.
